Erbium, with the element symbol Er and atomic number 68, graces the 6th period of the periodic table and is ranked 11th in the Lanthanide series (IIIB group). Boasting an atomic weight of 167.26, erbium is a dazzling silver-white metal. It has a melting point of 1529°C, a boiling point of 2863°C, and a density of 9.006g/cm³. At low temperatures, erbium exhibits antiferromagnetic properties, transforming to strongly ferromagnetic near absolute zero, and astonishingly, it becomes a superconductor.
