Description:
Tungsten, a rare metal with an exceptionally high melting point of 3410 ± 20°C and an astounding boiling point of 5660°C, holds the record for the highest boiling point among metals. As a member of the VIB group in the sixth period of the periodic table, tungsten boasts a silver-white, steel-like appearance. It offers remarkable properties such as a high melting point, low vapor pressure, and minimal evaporation rate. Chemically stable, tungsten remains unreactive with air and water at room temperature and shows resistance to hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and alkali solutions. Even aqua regia can only oxidize its surface. While reactive with ***, ***, iodine, carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur at elevated temperatures, it does not combine with hydrogen.
