This hard, silvery-grey metal showcases ductility and malleability as a transition metal. Though naturally rare, once isolated, Vanadium forms an oxide layer (passivation), which stabilizes the free metal against oxidation. With remarkable electrical conductivity and thermal insulation, Vanadium surpasses most metals, including steel, in hardness. It boasts impressive resistance to corrosion and stability against alkalis, sulfuric acid, and hydrochloric acid. This astounding element oxidizes in air at around 933 K (660 °C, 1220 °F), yet an oxide passivation layer also develops at room temperature.
