Description:
Molybdenum disulfide is a black solid powder that boasts a striking metallic luster. Its chemical formula is MoS2, with a melting point of 1185ºC and a density of 4.80g/cm3 at 14ºC. The material has a Mohs hardness ranging from 1.0 to 1.5. Upon reaching 1370ºC, it begins to decompose, eventually breaking down into metallic molybdenum and sulfur at 1600ºC. When heated in air at 315°C, the oxidation process commences, accelerating with rising temperatures.
