Description: Boron relative density: 2.350. Melting point: 2300ºC. Boiling point: 3658ºC. It is a weak conductor at room temperature but conducts electricity exceptionally well at elevated temperatures. Trace amounts of carbon can enhance its conductivity. On oxidation in air, a diboron trioxide film forms, acting as a protective layer. However, at temperatures above 1000°C, this oxide layer evaporates.
