Tungsten is an extraordinarily rare metal with an astounding melting point of 3410 ± 20 degrees Celsius and a record-breaking boiling point of 5660 degrees Celsius, the highest among metals. Residing in the VIB group of the sixth period on the periodic table, tungsten is a steel-like, silver-white metal. Its high melting point, low vapor pressure, and minimal evaporation rate contribute to its remarkable stability. Tungsten remains chemically inert at room temperature, showing no reactivity with air or water, and is impervious to hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and alkali solutions. Aqua regia only oxidizes the surface. However, at elevated temperatures, tungsten forms compounds with elements such as ***, ***, iodine, carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur, but not with hydrogen.
