Introducing Metal Iridium, a remarkable chemical element known by the symbol Ir and atomic number 77. This silvery white metal is celebrated for its extraordinary hardness and brittleness. Intriguingly, during hot processing, as long as it remains unannealed, Iridium shows remarkable ductility, allowing it to be drawn into fine filaments and sheets. However, once annealed, it transforms into a hard and brittle state. With an impressive density of approximately 22.56 grams per cubic centimeter, a melting point of 2410±40ºC, and a boiling point reaching 4130ºC, Iridium displays its unique face-centered cubic crystal structure.

 

Applications of Iridium: This versatile metal is employed in crafting pen tip materials, precision needles, balance blades, and compass holders. It excels in forming electrical contacts and plays a critical role in the fabrication of porous spinnerets.
