Aluminum is a silvery white metal known for its exceptional lightness and malleability. It naturally forms an oxide film in moist air, which acts as a protective barrier against corrosion. Aluminum powder and foil can combust vigorously when heated, producing an intense white flame. This metal is soluble in dilute solutions of sulfuric, nitric, and hydrochloric acids, as well as sodium and potassium hydroxides, but it remains insoluble in water. Featuring a relative density of 2.70, a melting point of 660°C, and a boiling point of 2327°C, aluminum is widely acclaimed for its lightweight properties, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and remarkable oxidation resistance.

Application: Perfectly suitable for a wide range of sputtering techniques including DC two-pole, three-pole, four-stage, RF, target-oriented, ion beam, and magnetron sputtering. These versatile aluminum pellets can be used to coat reflective films, conductive films, semiconductor films, capacitor films, decorative films, protective films, integrated circuits, and displays. Consequently, aluminum target material is the superior choice when functionality of the film is paramount.
Aluminum is derived by extracting Al2O3 from bauxite and electrolyzing it in molten cryolite to achieve a general purity above 99%. However, this level of purity falls short for aluminum target production. The critical requirement is ultra-high purity. For aluminum targets, high-purity aluminum is produced through advanced methods such as segregation, three-layer electrolysis, or combined zone smelting, which are significantly pricier than industrial pure aluminum (99.7%). In China, the highest attainable purity reaches approximately 99.9999% (6N). Utilizing high-purity aluminum ingots, through processes like forging, rolling, and heat treatment, the grains in the aluminum ingots become finer and denser, meeting the stringent requirements for sputtering aluminum targets. Post deformation, high-purity aluminum undergoes precise mechanical processing to achieve the target size specifications required by vacuum coating machines, ensuring high precision and superior surface quality.
