Description:
Tungsten is a rare, high melting point metal with an extraordinary melting point of 3410 ± 20 degrees Celsius and a boiling point of 5660 degrees Celsius, the highest among metals. It resides in the VIB group of the sixth period in the periodic table. This silver-white metal, reminiscent of steel in appearance, boasts a high melting point, low vapor pressure, and minimal evaporation rate. Tungsten's chemical properties are remarkably stable: it remains unreactive with air and water at room temperature and is insoluble in hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and alkali solutions. Aqua regia can only oxidize its surface. At elevated temperatures, it can combine with ***, ***, iodine, carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur, but not with hydrogen.
Application:
Tungsten's versatility allows it to be utilized in the manufacturing of firearms, rocket thrusters, nozzles, metal cutting blades, drill bits, superhard molds, and wire drawing dies.
