Description:
Tantalum, a metal element, mainly exists in tantalite and coexists with niobium. Tantalum is moderately hard and ductile, and can be drawn into thin filaments to make thin foils. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is small. Tantalum has very good chemical properties and is extremely resistant to corrosion. Although tantalum has strong corrosion resistance, its corrosion resistance is due to the formation of a stable protective film of tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5) on the surface.
