Description:
Molybdenum disulfide is a black solid powder with a metallic luster, boasting the chemical formula MoS2. It features a melting point of 1185ºC and a density of 4.80g/cm³ at 14ºC, along with a Mohs hardness between 1.0 and 1.5. At 1370ºC, it starts to decompose, fully breaking down into metallic molybdenum and sulfur at 1600ºC. In air, oxidation initiates at 315ºC, with reaction rates increasing alongside temperature.
