For aluminum targets, high-purity aluminum is manufactured via segregation, triple-layer electrolysis, or combined zone smelting, significantly more expensive than industrial pure aluminum at 99.7%. The highest obtainable purity in China reaches approximately 99.9999% (6N). Utilizing high-purity aluminum ingots, processes such as forging, rolling, and heat treatment refine the grain size and enhance density to meet the stringent requirements of sputtering targets. Post deformation, the high-purity material undergoes meticulous mechanical processing to achieve the exact target dimensions and surface quality demanded by vacuum coating machines.
