Description:
Molybdenum disulfide: A black solid powder distinguished by its metallic luster. Boasting the chemical formula MoS2, it features a melting point of 1185ºC and a density of 4.80g/cm3 at 14ºC. With a Mohs hardness ranging from 1.0 to 1.5, this compound begins to decompose at 1370ºC, ultimately breaking down into metallic molybdenum and sulfur at 1600ºC. It's noteworthy that upon heating in air at 315°C, MoS2 starts to oxidize, with the oxidation reaction intensifying as the temperature increases.
