Such purity levels, however, are insufficient for producing aluminum targets which demand exceptionally high purity. This high-purity aluminum is produced through methods like segregation, three-layer electrolysis, or combined zone refining, making it considerably more expensive than the commonly available industrial pure aluminum (99.7%). In China, the highest achievable purity reaches approximately 99.9999% (6N). Utilizing high-purity aluminum ingots, processes such as forging, rolling, and heat treatment refine the grain structure and enhance density to meet sputtering aluminum target requirements. The deformed high-purity aluminum undergoes meticulous mechanical processing to achieve precision and superior surface quality, ensuring it fits the necessary dimensions for vacuum coating machines.
