Aluminum is a silvery-white, lightweight metal known for its malleability. It is commonly available in forms such as rods, sheets, foil, powders, strips, and filaments. In moist air, it forms an oxide layer that prevents corrosion. When aluminum powder and foil are heated in the air, they burn intensely, emitting a brilliant white flame. Aluminum is soluble in dilute sulfuric, nitric, hydrochloric acids, sodium hydroxide, and potassium hydroxide solutions, but insoluble in water. It has a relative density of 2.70, a melting point of 660°C, and a boiling point of 2327°C. Aluminum is cherished for its lightweight nature, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and resistance to oxidation.
