Zinc is a light gray transition metal. It is brittle at room temperature; it becomes soft at 100-150°C; it becomes brittle again when it exceeds 200°C. A thin and dense basic zinc carbonate film will form on the surface of zinc at room temperature, which can prevent further oxidation. When the temperature reaches 225°C, zinc will be violently oxidized. At the same time, zinc is also a common non-ferrous metal, which can be alloyed with a variety of non-ferrous metals, the most important of which are brass composed of copper, tin, lead, etc., and die-casting alloys composed of aluminum, magnesium, copper, etc. Zinc and its alloys are mainly used in the fields of iron and steel, metallurgy, machinery, electrical, chemical, light industry, military and medicine.
