Feature:
The appearance of manganese monoxide is grass green or gray green cubic powder or octahedral crystal. Relative density 5.43~5.46. Melting point 1650. Dissociation and sublimation at 3400. Insoluble in water, soluble in acid and ammonium chloride. In hot concentrated ammonium chloride solution, manganese chloride and ammonia are formed. It is easy to transform into other high-priced manganese oxides when heated in the air, such as manganese tetroxide, manganese dioxide, manganese trioxide, etc., which are difficult to reduce. It is not reduced by hydrogen at 1200°C, but can be reduced by carbon at 1100~1200°C. Hydrogen and manganese dioxide are generated in red hot water vapor. Heat together with sulfur to generate sulfur dioxide and sulfur oxides. It does not decompose when melted in inert gas. Manganese monoxide is mainly used as a raw material for the production of ferrite, a desiccant for coatings and varnishes, a catalyst for the production of amyl alcohol, a feed additive, and a trace element fertilizer. It is also used in medicine, smelting, welding, fabric reduction printing and dyeing, glass coloring, grease bleaching, ceramic kiln industry and dry battery manufacturing.
