Description:
Molybdenum disulfide: black solid powder with metallic luster. Chemical formula MoS2, melting point 1185ºC, density 4.80g/cm3 (14ºC), Mohs hardness 1.0~1.5. It begins to decompose at 1370ºC and decomposes into metal molybdenum and sulfur at 1600ºC. When heated in air at 315°C, it begins to be oxidized. As the temperature rises, the oxidation reaction accelerates.

Application: 
Molybdenum disulfide is an important solid lubricant, especially suitable for use under high temperature and high pressure.
It is also diamagnetic and can be used as a linear photoconductor and a semiconductor showing P-type or N-type conductivity, with the functions of rectification and energy conversion.
Molybdenum disulfide can also be used as a catalyst for the dehydrogenation of complex hydrocarbons.
